Last month, James “Jimmer” Fredette was selected in the NBA draft by the Sacramento Kings. It was a moment that capped off a breakout season for Jimmer. In his senior year, Fredette captured national attention with his dazzling three-point shooting and led the Brigham Young Cougars to a record-breaking number of wins and the school’s first trip to the Sweet Sixteen in thirty years.
The moment also represented the fulfillment of a contract his older brother had drawn up and Jimmer had signed a few years before:
Jimmer hung this contract in his room and looked at it every single day. “It reminded me of what my goal was,” he said, “and if I didn’t want to work hard or practice that day, I would look at that and think, ‘You have to work as hard as you possibly can and do things other kids aren’t doing in order to be the best and reach your goal.’”
The things the other kids weren’t doing were drills like “The Gauntlet,” in which Jimmer would dribble down a pitch dark hallway at church, as his friends jumped out of classrooms in an attempt to throw him off his game. He also played pick-up games at the local prison, where he learned not to be intimidated by trash talk and extremely tough play.
When college recruiters didn’t come around, having deemed him too white and slow to be a viable prospect, he just kept on practicing and honing his game at one of the few schools to offer him a scholarship: BYU.  In the summer after his junior year, he attended predraft camps with NBA teams in order to find the weak spots in his game that needed improvement.
The work paid off when he got to don the Kings’ cap and hoist a NBA jersey on June 23rd.  He had made the necessary sacrifices to reach his goal.

What Is Sacrifice?

When we hear the word sacrifice, we often think of completely selfless acts in which someone does something for another entirely for the other person’s benefit. The image of a soldier sacrificing his life for his comrades frequently comes to mind.
But sacrifice isn’t purely altruistic. The best definition of sacrifice is this: “To forfeit something for something else considered to have a greater value.” (American Heritage Dictionary, emphasis mine). Sacrifice does not mean giving up something for nothing; it means giving up one thing for something else we believe is worth more.
This does not at all take away from the virtue of sacrificial acts. Instead of locating the merit of sacrifice in unselfishness, we can find it in a man’s chosen value system. The man who lays down his life for his family or for his comrades has chosen to place more value on their lives than on his own. What is more praiseworthy than that?

The Law of Sacrifice

So if that is the definition of sacrifice, what is the law of sacrifice? The law of sacrifice says that you cannot get something you want, without giving up something in return. In order to attain something you believe is of greater value, you must give up something you believe is of lesser value.
Society today tries to deny the law of sacrifice at every turn, promising people that they can fulfill their desires without having to forsake anything at all. “Lose weight without giving up your favorite foods!” “Get ripped without long workouts!” “Get rich without having to work hard!” The denial of the law of sacrifice is at the heart of things like our soaring credit card debt (US citizens currently hold $886 billion of it), not to mention our national debt. The fantasy that you can have whatever you’d like without ever paying for it is an incredibly seductive fantasy.
But it is only a fantasy. There is always a price to pay.
If you want to lose weight, you have to give up junk food. If you want to get ripped, you have to work out regularly. If you want the nice things in life, you have to work hard and save your money.
Sure, sometimes fame and good fortune seemingly drop into someone’s lap. The law of sacrifice is not as irrevocable, as say, the law of gravity. But as Frederick Douglass said:
“A man, at times, gets something for nothing, but it will, in his hands, amount to nothing.”
For proof of this, see the cases of folks who win the lottery and then squander it all away.
This is the beauty of the law of sacrifice. Not only is it the only path to achieving your goals, but the path itself prepares you to handle life at the top. Sacrificing not only gets you to your goals, but hones and shapes you as a man along the way.

Why Understanding the Law of Sacrifice Is So Vital to a Man’s Happiness and Success

A man’s ability to see through the cultural smokescreen that obscures the law of sacrifice is absolutely vital for a couple of reasons.
First, the denial of the law of sacrifice keeps a man from progressing in life. To reach your goals, you must move forward, which necessitates leaving some things behind. But the man who believes he can get whatever he desires without sacrifice tries to hold onto everythingin an attempt to have it all. Instead of moving forward, he is stretched out horizontally and sitting on the fence.
Whenever I think of the law of sacrifice, I picture the scene at the end of Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Elsa, the hot Nazi babe, is dangling over the abyss; one of her hands is held by Indy while she grasps with the other to reach the Holy Grail, which is just out of reach. Believing she can have the grail and walk away with her life as well, she refuses to choose and give Indiana her other hand, and is thus rewarded with a plummet to her death. Indy almost suffers the same fate; as his dad holds onto him, he too reaches for the grail. But he listens to the advice of his father, and he sacrifices the thing that is worth less–the artifact–for the thing that he values more–his life and the chance for another adventure.
Failing to understand the law of sacrifice also leads to a life of restlessness and regret. When you believe you can have whatever you want, without giving up anything in return, you can never fully embrace and enjoy your choices. For example, sometimes I’ll have a moment where I miss the freedom of my childless days. But would I give up Gus to return to that time? Absolutely not. I sacrificed one thing—more freedom—for something I believe has greater value—a child.
Great unhappiness arises when we fail to acknowledge the necessity of sacrifice and subconsciously hold the idea in our heads that we can have both things at the same time. You move across the country for a new adventure, but you spend all your time missing your old family and friends. You must recognize that you wouldn’t be having the experience you are enjoying now if you had never left. You wish you could sow some more wild oats and sleep with a lot of women, but at the same time, you would never want to give up the incredible relationship you have with your wife. You must embrace the fact that there are trade-offs in life and that you can’t have one thing without giving up another.
The world class athlete or musician gives up time spent with family and friends for time spent honing their talent. The converted religious man gives up old habits for his new faith. The blockbuster actor gives up anonymity for fame and fortune. The burned out employee gives up his six-figure corporate salary to become a high school teacher.
If you are unhappy in your choice, it is because you chose something that you do not really believe to have higher value than that which you left behind. The law of sacrifice reveals and operates according to our personal value system. If we don’t have a cut physique, it is because we value the freedom to eat whatever we’d like more than six pack abs. If we don’t have a 4.0 GPA, it’s because we value time spent with friends more than grades. If you’ve ever wondered why you lack the discipline to attain a certain goal, it is likely because in your heart of hearts, you don’t really value that goal as much as you think you do.
At the end of the day then, the most important question we should ask ourselves when evaluating our dreams, desires, and goals, may not be, “What am I willing to do to attain them?” but “What am I willing to give up?”

1) Extract Out OS Files
If you use without software method then you need to extract OS files from ISO, ZIP or Copy Files from Disk in a separate folder in your computer storage. Some of the software’s directly require ISO file to make a bootable pen drive so please don’t delete your ISO after extracting out files.

1.1) Use software for extracting ISO files in a Folder

ISO Opener - This tool is very easy to use. Simply select ISO file( Tip-  File of OS) and output folder( Tip – Create a new folder) and push the extract button to extract all the ISO files to folder.
7ZIP – You can also use 7ZIP to extract ISO Files. This software mostly installed in every computer.
7zip Tutorial (With Pictures)
Create a new folder to desktop
Copy OS iso to “New Folder”
bootable-drive-snap-1
Right Click to ISO and select extract here
boot-drive-snap-2
Move ISO to other location
drive-boot-snap-3
If you have a Windows installation disk then you should copy all the files to a new folder directly. If copy fails or error then first create a ISO of disk and extract files as above method.
Make sure your installation disc is not much old, We highly recommend you if you’re new in this method then download a new trial ISO from Web and use product key from your OS box.

2) Bootable Pen drive Conversion Software’s

2.1) Rufus

Rufus is a very easy tool let you make usb drive bootable in some minutes. I like rufus for his performance and simple design. Non need to install this tool in your storage its only a single executable file not setup.

2.2) Universal USB installer

This tool is also have very simple features let you convert your pendrive bootable. Simply download this tool > Click to executable file > Follow on screen instructions > In selection page select your OS from drop down > Select ISO image and click create.

2.3) Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Tool

I really like small and free tools of microsoft and this is first tool i use in my life for making pen drive bootable. The tool is very easy to use you just select ISO > USB device > Start Over.If you don’t like Command process then this tool is a good choice of you.

3) Don’t forget to change “Boot Device Option”

After creating bootable pendrive your installation not start until you change your boot device order to put usb drive in no. 1. Most of the people have some many problem for this that’s why i defined this for you.
  • Connect your bootable ready pen drive to computer
  • Restart your computer
  • Press function key from which your BIOS open ( Mostly  computer have F8 or ESC or F10 or F2 )
  • In the hard-disk priority select usb drive and move it to 1st
  • Press F10 and ENTER
If you having problem with BIOS option so please read instructions written in left and right in your BIOS screen when you highlight any option.

Making a pen drive bootable is possible in Windows7 & Windows8 operating system. Formatting a computer to install fresh Windows OS with a CD/DVD drive is not very good because it takes too much time to install fresh Windows operating system. There can also be a problem for many people that CD/DVD drive doesn’t work properly. So this can be a problem for them. Today laptop or desktop comes many USB ports. So there is no need of CD/DVD drive to format a system. Formatting is very fast and easy with flash drive/pen drive and also no software is required for this method. Windows7 or Windows8 command prompt can do the work with few lines of command. Just follow this tutorial.
Start your command prompt.
 For windows7 users:
Go to “Start” button and click. Write “cmd” then cmd icon will appear on the top of the panel.

Starting Windows CMD

Starting Windows CMD
“Right click” on the cmd icon and click “Run as administrator”

Running Command Prompt As Administrative

Running Command Prompt As Administrative
It will open the command prompt. (Fig.3)
Windows 7 CMD Window Pops Up

Windows 7 CMD Window Pops Up

For windows 8 users:
Press “Windows key” and press “c”. You will see the command prompt icon. “Right click” on the command prompt icon and click “Run as administrator” from the bottom bar.

Windows 8 CMD Window Pops Up

Windows 8 CMD Window Pops Up
It will open the command prompt like in Fig.3
Now following steps are same for the windows7 and 8 OS.
Type “diskpart” inside the command prompt and hit “ENTER”
Type diskpart And Enter

Type diskpart And Enter
It will good before going to next step that you should disconnect all other external hard disk, flash/pen drive etc. because accidently these drive can be formatted. So taking precaution is good. Only one pen drive with minimum 4 GB should be connected. Save all the data from the pen drive because it will be formatted in one of the following step.
After last step type “list disk” inside the command prompt and hit “ENTER”

Type list Disk And Enter

Type list Disk And Enter
This will show all disk connected to the system like DISK 0, Disk 1, and so on with “Status”, “Size” , “Free” etc.. We can recognize the pen drive with size. Disk 0 will be the system disk in which the windows OS is installed. In this tutorial Disk 1 is the pen drive (3855MB=4GB). This pen drive is going to be a bootable pen drive.
Type “select disk 1” inside the command prompt and hit “ENTER”. It will select the disk 1 (pen drive) for all coming steps.

Type select Disk 1 And Enter

Type select Disk 1 And Enter
Type “clean” and hit “ENTER”. It will erase all the data from the pen drive.

Type clean And Enter

Type clean And Enter
Type “create partition primary” and hit “ENTER”. It will create a primary partition in pen drive.

Type create partition primary And Enter

Type create partition primary And Enter
Type “select partition 1” and hit “ENTER”. It will select the partition created in the last step.

Type select partition 1 And Enter

Type select partition 1 And Enter
Type “format fs = ntfs quick” and hit “ENTER”. It will format the pen drive quickly with NTFS file type.

Type format=fs quick And Enter

Type format fs=ntfs quick And Enter
Type “active” and hit “ENTER”. It will make partition as active for booting after restarting the computer. If this step is missed then computer will not boot from the pen drive.
Type active And Enter

Type active And Enter
Type “exit ” and hit “ENTER” to close the diskpart and close the command prompt window.

Type exit And Enter

Type exit And Enter
Now the pen drive has become bootable. Now all the files from root of Windows operating system setup DVD or ISO has to copy inside the pen drive root.
So open the Windows setup file from DVD or ISO and copy all file by selecting with “Ctrl+A” and paste it inside the pen drive’s root folder as shown in the figure.

Copying All Files And Pasting It

Copying All Files And Pasting It
After complete copy, the pen drive will be a bootable for Windows 7 and Windows 8 OS completely. You just need to “Restart” your computer. “Restart” your computer. When BIOS screen appears then press “F12” key. It will show the options to boot from CD/DVD drivehard disk and pen drive. Just scroll down to pen drive and hit “Enter”. Your system will boot from pen drive. Now you can install windows OS.
:)
Computer Virus infection is only removed through antivirus programs as you know, but this time we are talking about Shortcut Virus which is a new modern virus automatically comes in your computer/USB/SD card and convert your content into a shortcut. Some time this virus also invisible your all contents. The first thing I really got mad for the Shortcut virus problem is not removable by anti-virus programs. When you Scan your Shortcut virus infected storage with anti-virus program they give “No threat detected” which was really confusing and  who didn’t know how to remove this virus, they just format the infected storage, So if you’re helplessness to format your storage then please don’t do this gain, because it is not a solution but if your storage not contain anything important then you should format your secondary storage device not computer storage because formatting also a another method to flush out shortcut virus.
The cause of this virus is internet, third party software’s, USB storage devices and more sources also. Sometime you connect your pen drive to your friend’s computer for exchanging data and you didn’t know is your friend’s computer is already infected by shortcut virus, So when you connect those pendrive to your computer it automatically infect your computer also.

Remove Shortcut Virus From Pen Drive & SD Card

There are 2 methods you can use to remove this virus: using CMD or Software Tool. Before beginning I highly recommend you to First Scan storage with your antivirus and then go for below method. If your pen drive is bootable then it may change to normal.

Method 1 > Using command prompt

Open Command prompt as Administrator (Windows 7 or earlier: Windows key + R > Type CMD & ENTER, Windows 8: Search for “CMD” > Right click to CMD and Select “Run as Administrator” or right click overStart button and select “command prompt (Admin) “)
cmd-admin-vt
Connect Your USB storage (Pendrive/SD card) to your Computer.
Scan your storage with your antivirus program (Not compulsory but its effective) > If your antivirus found virus then delete it.
Type in Command prompt :  attrib -h -r -s /s /d <Your USB drive letter>:\*.* (See <Your USB drive letter> from My computer and then type it For ex, if your drive letter is “D” then the command is like: ” attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.* “)
To know about this command Type ” attrib /? ” In CMD.
cmd-attrib-cmd
Now your Shortcut files again convert to normal files. Delete unknown files from your storage aftercommand process completes. I highly recommend you to after removing shortcut virus copy your USB data to your computer > Format the USB storage > Then again re-copy USB data back.

Method 2 > Using Software

There are multiple software found in web for fixing this problem so i use USB Fix for this tutorial because it works great and freeware.
DOWNLOAD USB fix and install (If your antivirus showing virus in this software then please disable it for a few minutes)
Close all the programs from taskbar, you are running, because when it start it auto close your all programs and you may lose your data.
Connect all of your external storages to computer > Choose clean
clean-usbfix
It automatically cleans your shortcut virus problems from all USB storages and don’t forget to restart your computer after using this tool because it make changes in windows directory and until you restart your computer, your computer will not work properly.

Flush out from your Computer Hard disk

Removing this virus from your computer feels a little harder than USB, because USB is a small storage, but your computer hard disk is a large storage that you cannot revert changes like a CTRL+Z. The first time when I found this virus in my laptop, I re-install my windows, but after when I found tools for this problem I start using only tools, because re-installing windows waste your lots of time and shortcut virus is not a very big deal as you think.

Fix shortcuts already created on your drive

If your computer files have already converted into shortcut then you should try command prompt same as above method
> Type: attrib -h -r -s /s /d <Your drive letter>: \*.* (For ex. if your drive is C: then the command is “attrib -h -r -s /s /d C:\*.* “)

The brain is perhaps the most fascinating organ in the human body. It controls everything from breathing to emotions to learning. If you work with children, here are some facts that you might find helpful, from how the brain affects learning to facts about memory to interesting facts about the brain that you can share with your students.
Read on to learn interesting facts about how the brain develops, what can affect that development, and how learning is impacted.
  1. Read aloud. Parents and teachers who read aloud and talk often to young children are promoting brain development.
  2. Bilingual brains. Children who learn two languages before the age of five have a different brain structure than children who learn only one language.
  3. Child abuse and the brain. Studies have shown that child abuse can change the way the brain develops and can negatively affect learning.
  4. New neurons. Throughout life, mental activity promotes the production of new neurons in the brain.
  5. Handedness. Those who are left-handed or ambidextrous have a corpus collosum that is about 11% larger than those who are right-handed.
  6. Brain growth. The human brain continues to grow until about age 18.
  7. Stimulating environment. If a child is in a stimulating environment, she has a 25% greater ability to learn . Conversely, if she is in an environment with low stimulation, she has 25% less ability to learn.
  8. Creative vs. methodical. Scientists have shown that creative thinkers’ brains work in different ways from the brains of those who think more methodically.
  9. Food and intelligence. One study looked at students in New York and showed that those who ate lunches that did not include artificial flavors, preservatives, and dyes did 14% better on IQ tests than the students who ate lunches with these additives.
  10. Boredom. Humans have an innate curiosity, but when they have a lack of stimulation, boredom sets in.
  11. Learning new things. A study shows that when people are learning new things, their brains change very quickly. Those learning to juggle showed change in the brain in as little as seven days.
  12. Music. Children who take music lessons show a considerable increase in the ability to learn.
  13. Reading faces. The area of the brain called the amygdala is responsible for theability to read someone’s face for clues to how they are feeling.
Learn about the way short-term memory differs from long-term memory, how scent affects memory, and more.
  1. Different types of memory. The ability to learn and remember new things is called declarative memory and is processed in a different part of the brain from where the memories of how to do something are stored.
  2. Scent and memory. Scent is a powerful trigger for memory. A study indicates that a memory paired with scent can be recalled more easily.
  3. New connections. Each time a memory is recalled or a new thought occurs, a new connection is created in the brain.
  4. Create associations. Memory is formed by associations, so to promote memory in students, create associations for them.
  5. Sleep. The brain consolidates memories while you sleep.
  6. No sleep. A lack of sleep may actually decrease your ability to create new memories.
  7. Short-term memory. Studies suggest that short-term memory happens as a result of chemical and electrical impulses in the brain, as compared to more structural changes that are associated with long-term memory.
From how the brain helps while blinking to early brain surgery, these bits of trivia might come in handy the next time you are teaching about the brain.
  1. Blinking. Each time we blink, our brain keeps things illuminated so the whole world doesn’t go dark each time we blink, which is about 20,000 times a day.
  2. Laughing. As easy as laughing seems, it is actually a very complex task that requires activity in five different areas of the brain.
  3. The purpose of yawning. Yawning often promotes yawning in others nearby. Scientists believe that yawning may have been an ancient social behavior that signaled an event, with others yawning in response. Today, we still hold on to the response, even if we don’t need it.
  4. Brain Bank. Harvard maintains a Brain Bank where over 7,000 human brains are stored for research purposes.
  5. Disney and sleep disorders. Disney creators used real sleep disorders such as snoring, nightmares, and sleepwalking in many of the characters in their movies.
  6. Thoughts. It is believed that humans experience 70,000 thoughts each day.
  7. Aristotle. Aristotle mistakenly thought that the functions of the brain actually took place in the heart.
  8. Outer space. The lack of gravity in outer space affects the brain in several ways.Scientists are studying how and why, but you may want to hold off on your next trip to the moon.
  9. Shakespeare. The word "brain" appears 66 times in William Shakespeare’s plays.
  10. Early brain surgery. Archeologists found evidence that primitive brain surgerywas performed by drilling a hole in the skull as far back as 2000 BC.
  11. Imaginary playmates. A psychological study in Australia showed that children with imaginary playmates between the ages of 3 and 9 tended to be first-born children.
  12. Oxytocin and autism. Oxytocin is a hormone that is responsible for promoting social interaction and may help children with autism increase social skills and trust.
With this list, you’ll be prepared the next time you need to whip out fast facts about the make-up of the human brain.
  1. Water. The brain is made up of about 75% water.
  2. 10% myth. If you were taught that humans only use 10% of their brain, then know that is just a myth. Scientists can attribute a function to each part of the brain.
  3. Weight. The human brain weighs about 3 pounds.
  4. No pain. There are no pain receptors in the brain, so the brain can feel no pain.
  5. Cerebrum. The cerebrum is the largest part of the brain and makes up about 85% of the brain’s weight.
  6. Gray and white. The human brain consists of about 60% white matter and 40% gray matter.
  7. Neurons. About 100 billion neurons make up the human brain.
  8. Synapses. For each one of those neurons, there are anywhere from 1,000 to 10,000 synapses.
  9. Cerebral cortex. The cerebral cortex grows thicker the more it is used.
  10. Yawns. It is believed that yawning sends more oxygen to the brain, therefore working to cool it down and stimulate it.
Amazing Brains
Here are examples of some amazing people and their brains.
  1. Daniel Tammet. Daniel Tammet is an autistic savant who can perform astounding mathematical computations, knows seven languages, and is developing a language of his own.
  2. Albert Einstein. Einstein’s brain was similar in size to other human brains except in the region that is responsible for math and spatial perception, where his brain was 15% wider than average.
  3. Keith Jarrett. This jazz musician, at age 3, was discovered to have perfect pitch, which scientists have been able to pinpoint in the right frontal lobe.
  4. London taxi drivers. Famous for knowing all the London streets by heart, these taxi drivers have a larger than normal hippocampus, especially the drivers who have been on the job longest. This suggests that as people memorize more information, the hippocampus continues to grow.
  5. Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. After his death, Lenin’s brain was studied and found to have been abnormally large and to have contained numerous neurons in a particular region. Some believe this brain structure may explain his famous intelligence.
  6. Oldest brain. At the University of York in northern England, a brain thought to be2000 years old was unearthed.
  7. Ben Pridmore. Ben Pridmore, a world champion memorizer, memorized 96 historical events in 5 minutes and memorized a single, shuffled deck of cards in 26.28 seconds.
  8. Henry Molaison. Known for decades as "HM," Molaison underwent brain surgery in 1953 and could not form new memories afterward. He became the most studied patient by those who research the brain. Molaison died about a year ago and donated his brain to science. Currently, it is undergoing extensive research.

Einstein's brain: Pickled perfection

The secret of Einstein's immense intellect may finally have been uncovered - one area of his brain was significantly different than most people's.

Scientists at McMaster University, Ontario, Canada compared the shape and size Einstein's brain with those of 35 men and 56 women with average intelligence.Albert Einstein, who discovered the theory of relativity, died in 1955, aged 76. His brain was then removed and preserved for scientific research.

They think their findings may well explain his genius for mathematical and spatial thinking.
In general, Einstein's brain was the same as all the others except in one particular area - the region responsible for mathematical thought and the ability to think in terms of space and movement.

[ image: Albert Einstein]
Albert Einstein
Extensive development of this region meant that Einstein's brain was 15% wider than the other brains studied.
Uniquely, Einstein's brain also lacked a groove that normally runs through part of this area. The researchers suggest that its absence may have allowed the neurons to communicate much more easily.
"This unusual brain anatomy may explain why Einstein thought the way he did," said Professor Sandra Witelson, who led the research published in the Lancet.
"Einstein's own description of his scientific thinking was that words did not seem to play a role. Instead he saw more or less clear images of a visual kind," she said.

[ image: Einstein allowed his brain to be studied after his death]
Einstein allowed his brain to be studied after his death
The idea that differing abilities are determined by physical differences in the structure of the brain is currently of great interest to scientists.
"To say there is a definite link is one bridge too far, at the moment," said Professor Laurie Hall, a brain imaging expert from the University of Cambridge.
"So far the case isn't proven. But magnetic resonance and other new technologies are allowing us to start to probe those very questions."

The researchers hope that the study will encourage the donation of brain specimens from other gifted individuals.
